Project: Packaging Redesign
As a designer at KBDA, Jean worked with creative director, Kim Baer, to redesign the packaging design for the upcoming dessert game-changer, Hakuna Banana. Having made a big impact in small retailers as a no-dairy & banana-based ice cream, Hakuna Banana were ready to hit the big retailer chains, Whole Foods and Sprouts. Founders, Mollie and Hannah, wanted to evolve the design to better reflect the variety of flavors the brand offered, without departing too far from the original package, for consumer to brand recognition purposes. By pulled key elements from their entire brand outreach, Jean was able to curate a new direction, solely based on their existing brand styles. Since leaving KBDA, Hakuna Banana continues to work with Jean to progress their product line and brand expansion.

Creating the system
As the Hakuna Banana brand was growing and warming (ironically) the hearts of their consumers-base, Hannah and Mollie understood that keeping the field of yellow on the pint was best for brand recognition and market-shelf presence. Knowing that, we worked to create a packaging design system that allowed for variety & artistry while staying true to the brand.
